Cooper's Hawk - Hatch Year 09-03-23

A hatch year Cooper’s Hawk, most likely fledged from the nest across the street earlier this summer , has been hanging around the yard for the better part of a week doing it’s best to avoid me each time I’ve tried to grab a photo or two.

I tried a different tactic when I saw it on the fence today, heading upstairs and shooting out of a window which didn’t bother it at all.

Shooting with the Sony A7V with the 200-600mm lens and a 1.4 convertor while utilizing auto iso gave the images quite a bit of noise. I used Lightroom’s AI noise reduction feature for the 1st time setting it between 75% & 100% and must say it was very fast and did quite a nice job. I put a side by side comparison at the end of the gallery. I also tried the noise reduction in the Topaz AI plugin and while it did a comprable job it took 3 or 4 minutes to complete the task which Lightroom finished in 15 to 20 seconds each time.

Need a reason to keep the batteries in the camera charged?……. Moments like this…:)
